The O.T. Hodge®, Licensing Program
O.T. Hodge Chile Parlors is seeking licensees throughout the Metro St. Louis area (Missouri only). A licensee features the famous, proprietary O.T. Hodge Chile product, which is delivered to it from our USDA certified manufacturing plant. The licensee operates as "O.T. Hodge Chile Parlor" in its location. It maintains the standard O.T. Hodge menu (see in "menu" section). In addition to chile, our menu contains a selection of breakfast specialties, sandwiches and burgers, and special chile dishes such as the "Slinger," innovated at O.T. Hodge in the 1980's.
Licensees may operate breakfast, lunch and dinner, or breakfast and lunch only. Twenty-four hour operation is an option where permissible by local ordinance.
This is a potentially high volume, moderately priced restaurant program, capable of attracting families, businesspeople, after-hours diners and teens. The key to O.T. Hodge's success has been its delicious chile product, which we manufacture in St. Louis. Our menu, and methods of preparation are also unique. O.T. Hodge can attract diners to remote locations, or compete with the strongest restaurant competition in the market. This is a new program, building on O.T. Hodge's one hundred year reputation. Licensees are the beneficiaries of our product appeal, our renown, and our unparalleled position in the diner market in St. Louis. (see Benefits section)
Startup Assistance
Studies show that licensed or franchised restaurants have a much better success ratio than new, private restaurants for three reasons. One is the name recognition one gets representing a known brand. Another is the "system" developed by the brand owner, which is a proven way to operate a restaurant. Finally, support, to include training provided to the licensee/franchisee reduces errors in buildout and makes for a smooth startup.
O.T. Hodge provides initial start-up assistance, beginning when a person begins exploring our opportunity, to include assistance in site location and evaluation. We know the equipment needed, and can assist the license candidate in finding what is needed to outfit the parlor. We assist during the entire process of setup and buildout of a new location. A complete training program is provided. After deciding to become an O.T. Hodge Chile Parlor, a candidate is assisted by highly qualified professionals in the entire process.
The value of the O.T. Hodge license cannot be overestimated. Our name is one of the best known restaurant brands in St. Louis. Our product is equally known and loved. People travel distances just to visit a new O.T. Hodge. Over the years we have prospered in dense downtown markets such as St. Louis and Clayton, but have also done well in industrial districts, and in suburban malls. The food and format is universal. The pre-acceptance of our name and product brings customer recognition on the day of opening of any new O.T. Hodge parlor. O.T. Hodge is consistently ranked #1 in Chili in St. Louis, and is just as consistently ranked in the top five in the food take-out and coffee shop categories.
